A Weekend In New York For The 2007 Online Watch Enthusiast Gathering
Day 4 - Sunday, May 20th 2007
Sunday, our last day in New York quickly came upon us, and Karen and I were determined to use our remaining hours in the Big Apple seeing as much as we could. The weather was much more cooperative on Sunday! Our first stop was to head back over to the Empire State Building to try and get to the top since visibility had been so poor the night before:
Here's another shot of Macy's during the day:
Having purchased our tickets the night before, and arriving when the building opened, we'd hoped to breeze in an out. The lines were short, but with security, and the fact that you go to the 80th floor, then snake around to elevators which take you to the 86th floor observation center, it took more time than we'd hoped but the view was worth it:
Macy's looked a bit different from this view:
The obligatory wrist shot:
From here we took a cab over to Rockafeller Center, home of the "Top of the Rock" observation floor - about 10 floors shy of the Enpire State building, but in my opinion, and better view of the city and better overall experience:
Where else can you get a view of the Empire State building like this?
Or Central Park?
The outside of Rockefeller Center is just beautiful too:
Rockefeller Center also houses NBC news studios:
Across the street is world famous Radio City Music Hall:
By this time we were ready to take a breather and get something to eat. But where?
Little Italy of course!
We spent some time strolling through the historic neighborhood in the sunny afternoon. It's sort of a tradition the Karen and I spot a Ferrari on our trips together, and we finally found one in Little Italy:
We head over to Da Nico's for lunch:
We couldn't leave New York without trying some New York style pizza:
Afterward, we went over to the best ice cream shop in all of Little Italy - Ferrara Bakery & Cafe:
After desert, it was time to head back to the hotel, gather our luggage, and head back to LaGuardia for our flight back to Dayton - a last look back at the City That Never Sleeps from the cab window:
I hope you enjoyed this photo tour!
